Holiday Packing Tips
Broadly speaking, annual holidays can be spilt into two groups: firstly, those that take place in hot environments; beaches where insatiable bathers listlessly absorb the sun; arid deserts where bold explorers retrace ancient nomadic steps; or steamy, intolerable, murderous jungles, where the brave face daily risk in the pursuit of the authentic thrill of ancient civilisations. To counter this, there comprises the innumerable array of vacations charecterised by the cold; trips to alpine pistes, where gentle flowing skiing meets and conflicts with aggressive styles and `upstart` snowboarders; endless expansive tundra, where each second is a battle to survive and achievement is the goal; or underwater exploration, where the cold that penetrates through the thickest wetsuit is ignored and overwhelemed by the fantasy of discovering the unseen, where an alien life-form could lurk behind the next rock; beneath the next shell.
Beyond this, two further groups prevail: the passive holiday maker versus the cultural tourist. The former group are characterised by the desire and pursuit of relaxation; the latter by the expansion of mind through experience, burdened with the desire to satisfy an inherent quest for knowledge. The locales of choice for the former may include Europe in Summer, or perhaps Australasia in the European winter, maybe a foray into the United States to absorb the Miami sun. The latter may also frequent these locations, though where the first would engage largely with the sun, the second may seek out ancient monuments of derelict societies and lost religions, more intent on being impacted upon by culture than the sun.
However, whatever one desires in a holiday, the fundamental necessity of properly packing luggage pertains. Wherever the location, and whatever activities will take place, any travelling will be preceded and brought to a close with an engagement with luggage. The crux of successful packing is to consider the nature of the trip to be undertaken, and thus predict what sort of items may be needed there: it is highly unlikely that a visit to Uluru (formerly Ayers rock) will be heightened by, or even provide the means to use, hair straighteners. That withstanding, it is also sublimely simple to land at the other end of the spectrum, and simply to pack everything in the case of any eventuality, however unlikely, and end up encumbered with a largely unnecessary amount of luggage, which will become an annoyance as soon as stepping into the departure terminal.
