Toronto
Travel to Toronto
Today, when we think of Canada, we think of Toronto; and when we think of Toronto, we think of a huge metropolis. However, Canada’s biggest city is more than that. It is a primary North American meeting place of art and culture, and yes, business. In fact, in many ways, it is to Canada what New York is to the United States. And just as The Big Apple draws vacationers from around the world, so too does Toronto draw visitors to Canada.
Flights to Toronto
If you’re traveling from Europe, of course you’ll be flying for several hours to reach Toronto. While airfare is not the bargain it once was, if you time it right, there are still many cheap flights to Toronto. The best deals normally come from British Airways. Also, at minimum, you want to schedule your flight a couple weeks in advance. For the best bargains, though, plan several months ahead of the actual trip. If you do so, you can often get roundtrip cheap flight deals from the UK to Toronto for as little as £249.
Places to Go, Things to See
Let’s continue with our New York analogy, because the types of things to do and see in Toronto are similar to what’s in New York. For instance, tall buildings.
The CN Tower is located in Toronto, and is one of the world’s tallest buildings. From the top of the building, you can literally see for dozens of miles, as far away as Niagara Falls!
Rogers Centre is located in Toronto. It’s notable for sports fans because it was the first large stadium with a retractable roof.
If you’re a fan of theater and a fine meal, you’ll want to check out Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. This is not only the finest dinner theatre in Toronto, but rates as one of the best in all of Canada.
Are you more the outdoors type? Then be sure to travel to Toronto Island Park. This is precisely what it sounds like: It’s a gorgeous park located on a group of four islands. It features trails for hiking, beaches for relaxing, as well as several kids’ amusement rides.
Maybe your idea of the perfect holiday includes lots of shopping. Take heart, Toronto has it, in fact, downtown Toronto is home to over 250 big stores as well as Canada’s third most-visited mall. The Toronto Eaton Centre is another popular shopper’s destination. It’s popular, not only for the quality merchandise, but as a magnificent site. It’s a four-level glass-domed structure.
Dining in Toronto
In terms of dining options, Toronto is truly an international city. Located on Charles St. is 7 West Café, which features a hungry-man’s sandwich–in a seemingly-infinite variety.
Alternatively, if you feel like some Italian fare, head to Bar Italia. Located on College Street, this restaurant is loved not only by the common citizens, but by the glitterati as well.
Toronto has a sizeable French population, so it’s no surprise that one of the city’s most popular dining establishments features French cuisine. Bistro 990 offers French dishes such as pâté de maison, oven-roasted halibut with salsa, roasted chicken with herb garlic, and much more.
Tapas are popular in Canada, and in Toronto, nobody does them better than Cava, located on Yonge St. They also have excellent pistachio ice cream.
A meal at any of these restaurants will put a memorable end to a memorable day in the memorable city of Toronto.
